Elena Walch
Dry white wine 100% Gewürztraminer
vintage 2025 Dolomites, South Tyrol,Tremin
Elena Wallach Gewürztraminer is produced from grapes that were hand-harvested and carefully selected around mid-September.
The 2024 vintage is in our opinion an excellent vintage after an unstable spring with rain during flowering, the beginning of summer was characterized by pleasant and cool temperatures that required increased attention and work in the vineyards. July and August, on the other hand, were dry with wonderful summer weather. The high temperatures and abundant sunshine in mid-summer created ideal conditions for the grape ripening process, resulting in balanced grapes with good pH, acidity and sugar levels. Overall, the harvest was smaller in terms of quantity, but the quality was excellent.
Elena Wallach’s career began as an architect. After marrying a winemaker from a traditional and ancient winery in 1985, she decided to dedicate herself entirely to producing wines in South Tyrol according to her vision, beyond single harvests, cultivating more modern varieties, reducing the amount of harvest in favor of quality.
Many winemakers were skeptical about her vision, being the first woman in this region in a field that was entirely dominant by men and with revolutionary and innovative approaches in a traditional field Elena Walch helped lead the quality revolution in South Tyrol, today her name is part of the elite of the Italian wine scene, the most prestigious and high-quality winery in South Tyrol.
The winery today is Currently run by her daughters julia and Karin
The winery regularly wins awards including one of the 100 best wines in the Italy by James Suckling, for beyond the clouds vintage 2020.
