Description

arbera d’Alba Elena–Roberto Sarotto

Dry Red wine vintage 2023

Aged first for around two months in stainless‑steel tanks, then for about 14 months in small American oak barriques, before returning to steel for a further six months of settling .

a process that shapes a particularly deep, concentrated and complex Barbera. This flagship wine comes from 40 year old Barbera vines on calcareous marl soils around Neviglie at roughly 350 meters above sea level, and is produced only from Roberto Sarotto’s best harvests.

Elena shows a powerful, complex nose of ripe, enveloping fruit and a full body with beautifully balanced structure, acidity and tannins – rich, round and velvety, with a long, lingering finish that makes it an inspiring meditation wine and a perfect match for rich pasta dishes, red meats and slow‑cooked winter stews.

Named after Roberto’s daughter, Elena Sarotto, this is one of the estate’s most important and enduring labels, on the market for over twenty years and, as Gambero Rosso notes, the result of some twenty years of work to craft a Barbera that captures its terroir with exceptional precision, consistency and focus from vintage to vintage
