Montefalco Sagrantino La Veneranda
2021 Dry red wine aged 3 years
Montefalco Sagrantino is a powerful red made from 100% Sagrantino, with full body and firm tannins, sourced from old vines on the slopes around Montefalco. The vineyards grow on sedimentary soils with clay, limestone and gravel, giving the wine depth, minerality and a distinctly dry, precise character. Fermentation involves a long maceration on the skins, followed by 36 months of aging in large Italian oak barrels –a true collector’s wine, with an aging potential of 15–20 years or more.
This is an excellent choice for those who love dominant wines with real depth and personality: we searched for the right Sagrantino for a long time, tasted widely and did our homework – and this one clearly stood out from the crowd.
La Veneranda is a historic family winery in Montefalco, with records of vine‑growing in the area dating back to 1568. Today a new generation of the family, together with a dedicated professional team in the vineyards and cellar, combines deep local tradition with precise, modern winemaking.
Montefalco’s nickname in Italy is “the Balcony of Umbria” – a hilltop town in Umbria with a magical view of rolling vineyards and olive groves overlooking the valley and surrounding villages, a colorful, moving and peaceful landscape.
We are pretty sure the vines here are happy to grow in such calm, high‑quality surroundings and the grapes seem more than pleased before they finally reach your table for a truly satisfying sip.
